Abgrid Biaxial Geogrid is a high-strength, extruded polypropylene grid used to stabilize and reinforce soils in civil engineering and construction.
Designed with square apertures, it interlocks with aggregate materials to evenly distribute loads, making it ideal for road construction, slope stabilization, and foundational support.

How it Works
- Material: Manufactured from extruded polypropylene that is punched and drawn, creating a monolithic structure with uniform strength in two perpendicular directions (biaxial).
- The Interlock Mechanism: The grid’s open apertures allow aggregate particles to lock into place. This confines the aggregate and prevents lateral spreading and surface rutting when subjected to heavy, dynamic loads.
Key Benefits
- Aggregate Reduction: By enhancing the load-bearing capacity of weak subgrades, it can significantly reduce the required thickness of sub-base stone.
- Cost & Environmental Savings: Decreasing the amount of necessary excavation (muck-away) and imported aggregate minimizes carbon footprint, site traffic, and overall project costs.
- Long-Term Durability: It is highly resistant to chemical and biological attack found in soils and is specifically engineered to minimize creep over time.
Typical Applications
- Roads & Pavements: Used in the base course of highways, haul roads, car parks, and temporary construction haul roads to minimize rutting and prevent subgrade mixing.

- Working & Piling Platforms: Provides safe, heavy-duty foundation engineering for temporary crane and rig platforms on soft or variable ground.

- Retaining Walls & Slopes: Reinforces earth structures by resisting shear failures, allowing for steeper angles and stable soil retention.
- Green Roofs: Utilized in steep sloping green roof systems to anchor underlying stabilization mats.
